Hi local group leaders--

This is a brief message, amidst the swirl of COVID-19; hope you and your families and communities are taking care. We wanted to let you know about some online training opportunities:

Training for Change (TFC) has announced free webinars on Online Facilitation 101. There is a waitlist for the next couple of trainings but they will be adding more sessions soon--you can register for these here. TFC also has more in-depth public workshops on online facilitation (see their website).

Eileen Flanagan is offering the Building a Non-Violent Direct Action Campaign four-part online training series again, beginning May 7th. Eileen was one of the key leaders of the campaign that pushed PNC Bank to stop investing in mountaintop removal coal mining, and she’s trained hundreds of people in nonviolent direct action skills. Now more than ever, we know that we need a strong movement to push for the kind of dramatic climate action that is necessary.

The course is a mix of online presentation and discussion and always gets great reviews from 350 local groups! The cost is $599 for grassroots groups to participate (this includes as many people from your group attending as you can recruit); 350.org will help to subsidize the first five local 350 groups who sign up for the course at the rate of $299 (please ask Eileen for the subsidy only if your group has not already received support for this course in the past). You can register at this link.

We’ll be in touch with more training support and resources over the next weeks and months.

In solidarity,

P.S. We’re updating this COVID-19 resource doc for US local groups daily. It includes resources on online meeting and training facilitation, creating communities of care, ideas for holding large events and mobilizations online, the increased racism and xenophobia we’re seeing during the pandemic and the political context of this moment.
