Happy New Year local group colleagues--

350.org is excited to join with the Labor Network for Sustainability (LNS) and other movement partners in organizing Transit Equity Day on Tuesday, February 4th, 2020.

Transit Equity Day is a collaborative effort of several organizations and unions to promote public transit as a civil right and a strategy to address the climate crisis. Thousands of people in 15 cities throughout the U.S. participated in Transit Equity Day in 2019 and we hope your local group will join in this year!

Why February 4? February 4th is Rosa Parks’ birthday. As a civil rights leader and organizer, Rosa Parks, Claudette Colvin and others’ refusal to give up their bus seats as part of the broader Montgomery Bus Boycott, is a reminder of the impact of strategy and movement building. The coalition that chose February 4th hopes to make the connection to this act of resistance to highlight the rights of all people to high-quality public transportation powered by clean/ renewable energy.

There will be a webinar on January 22nd at 5:00 pm PT / 8:00 pm ET, hosted by LNS, to learn more about Transit Equity Day. Everyone is welcome; register here.

And check out these resources to learn more and plan an event:

In addition to registering your action with LNS, please be in touch (deborah@350.org) to let me know that your group is hoping to participate, and any additional support needed.

In solidarity,

Deborah (US Trainings & Labor Partnerships)
